The workshop entitled “Shimadzu Chromatography & Mass Spectrometry Workshop” was organized by Ma Chung Research Center for Photosynthetic Pigments (MRCPP) on October 9, 2017 located at MRCPP Hall, Ma Chung University, Malang. MRCPP is a multidisciplinary research center in Indonesia and has a focus on photosynthetic field that studies the use of photosynthetic pigments that have potential for national needs covering the fields of food, health and renewable energy. The workshop discussed three topics, among others:

  1. High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and Industrial Applications. Presenters: Dr. Zhaoqi Zhan (General Manager of Shimadzu (Asia Pacific) Pte Ltd., Singapore)
  2. Shimadzu Liquid Chromatography Tandem Mass Spectrometry for Qualitative and Quantitative Analysis. Presenters: Dr. Sun Zhe (Chief Apllication Chemist in Shimadzu (Asia Pacific) Pte Ltd., Singapore)
  3. Gas Chromatography – Mass Spectrometry (GCMS) and Application. Presenters: Mulyana (Application and Marketing Support, PT DITEK JAYA)

Topics of workshop “High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and Industrial Applications” discuss three things:

  1. Principles of HPLC
  2. Instrumentation of modern HPLC systems
  3. Reversed phase HPLC and industrial applications

These three topics are the basis of the HPLC automation analysis system in Indonesian terms known as High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The working principle, operating system, sample analysis, analysis readings and the variety of HPLC instrumentation are also featured. One of MRLCP’s HPLC instrumentation is presented in Figure 2.

On the topic of the workshop “Shimadzu Liquid Chromatography Tandem Mass Spectrometry for Qualitative and Quantitative Analysis” discusses:

  1. Principle and instrumentation of triple quadropole LC / MS / MS
  2. Quantitative methods of MRM and various qualitative methods
  3. Industrial applications Shimadzu LC / MS / MS

One of the MRC LC-MS’s instrumentation is presented in Figure 3.

The last topic of this workshop “Gas Chromatography – Mass Spectrometry and Application” discusses

  1. GC
  2. GC Instrumentation
  3. GC app

One of the LC-MS in- structions belonging to MRCPP is presented in Figure 4.
